THANK GOD “MY HEART IS STILL BEATING” (Joseph Kurian, Houston)

Joseph Kurian, Houston
Human body is composed of more than hundred trillion cells. The amazing creation of God, the humans, the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the planets, the animals are incredible and unexplainable. Among all God’s awesome creation, humans top all of them. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 131:14), the words of King David in the Bible.
“The Heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). Everything in this incredible universe is created by the Omnipotent God. Compared to the vast Cosmos, our little earth is no bigger than a pebble and our lives no bigger than a grain of sand. The sun is one of two hundred billion (200 billion) other stars and a trillion more planets are in our galaxy and the galaxy is just one of hundred billion other galaxies hurtling through space is astounding.
“When I consider the heavens, the stars, the moon, the work of thy fingers, “What is man that you are mindful of him” (Psalms 8:3-4) When we study the wonderful creation of humans and the various important organs functioning inside a human being such as the brain, heart, lungs, liver, eyes and ears so on It is beyond our imagination, explanation and comprehension. The Human brain is more capable than all the computers in the world together.
The human heart beats around one hundred thousand (100,000) times a day pumping blood every cell in the body. Each minute the heart pumps 1.5 gallon of blood or two thousand gallons each day through the body. The amazing heart heats thirty five million (35 million) times a year and two and half billion (2.5 billion) times in an average life time. Medical science tells us that every contraction is similar to the effect to hold a tennis ball in our palm and give it a hard squeeze. Awesome and beyond words.
Our heart is six inch long (6 inch) and a man’s heart weighs three hundred and sixty two (362 grams) and a women’s heart weighs two hundred and fifty six grams ( 256 grams) which is less than a pound, size of an average closed large fist, beat seventy to seventy five ( 70 to 75) times per minute. It pumps over one hundred thousand times (100,000) a day pumping two thousand (2,000) gallons of blood through sixty thousand (60,000) miles of blood vessels and arteries per day.
When the heart muscle cannot meet the body’s demands for blood and oxygen, we can develop various symptoms like breathlessness, extreme tiredness and ankle swelling etc. This is called heart failure due to the hearts failure to pump blood around the body and the cause of Heart attack, hypertension, congestive heart failure etc. When your heart is too stiff or too weak to properly pump blood throughout the body or a sudden artery blockage that cuts the flow of oxygen to heart muscle, cardiovascular disease and other heart issues will develop.
Globally almost thirty to forty percent sudden death (30 to 40%) are caused by heart attacks. Many young and old alike are victims of heart failure everywhere in the world. Massive heart attacks kill many each day. Heart disease is the number one cause of death and disability worldwide. It is very important that everyone must take care of their heart well so that it will beat properly, tirelessly and continuously for the duration of our lifetime. A healthy heart can do amazing things and an unhealthy heart can cause the whole body to shut down.
The Bible defines our heart across many versus. Our amazing heart not only is just a physical organ that pumps blood throughout body but it also is a sacred place for our feelings and emotions like love, compassion, sorrow, kindness and mercy etc. God created all humans with these major parts, spirit, soul and body and heart is a composition of all three components of our soul, mind, emotion, will and especially our conscience.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Mathew 5:8). Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). As important as it is to maintain a healthy heart physically, it is even more important for us to develop a healthy heart spiritually.
Pastor & author Bill Tinsley commented, “If we discipline ourselves to be grateful each day for what God has done, if we hope when things look hopeless, if we forgive others who hurt us, if we love our enemies instead of just loving those who love us, we will have healthy heart”
Let us praise, worship and love God, our great creator for the rest of our life and be more grateful to God for each day that our heart is still beating and we are still alive. Many are dying so shockingly, suddenly and young when their heart stop beating. Thank God, serve God and live for God until our amazing heart stops beating. I am so thankful, “My Heart is still beating”
