“Let us make a Deal” is a popular American TV musical comedy variety game show many of us watch and enjoy. On various American main stream Medias, this show has been very successful since 1968 and a total of six thousand and eight hundred episodes have been completed.
Audience members are picked by the host as the show moves along. A trader is given a prize or cash amount of medium values and the host offers them the opportunity to trade for an unknown price. You never know what you are getting by making the deal. There is excitement and hope but uncertainty, doubts, failures and many end up as losers.
We are living in a world where so many deals are happening and many end up in troubles, tragedies, disappointments and even death. The devil is tirelessly trying all the time to make deals with everyone in all walks of life. The Bible says. “Your adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (Ist Peter 5:8) . Many young and old are falling into the trap of the devil and end up in tragedy. We need to realize the schemes and the strategies of the one pursuing us like a roaring lion.
Deals are done to make money, for popularity, show pride and to be at the top. Good and honest deals are necessary to be successful. But we need to know the poison hidden under the deals by evil desires and devils strategies. A child of God cannot make deals with the devil and those deals will end up in utter failure.
US, a Nation that claims, “In God We Trust” is tolerating abortion, homosexuality, gay marriage. National political and even religious leaders are making deals with wrong doctrines and groups. Many deals are made by someone agreeing to carry out evil deed in return for wealth, power or immoral actions.
Many illegal transactions, immoral behaviors, indecent acts, cruelty against others, pride, jealousy, anger, revenge, divisions are all due to bad deals with the plan of devil behind them. The Bible says” Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7) Put on the armor of God, so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11)
Our young ones are often fall into the deals of devil and ruined their life. We see a generation dominated by lust, greed, drugs, homosexuality, drinking, violence etc. The hidden agenda of devil in video games, rock & roll music, violent movies are all nightmares to parents of young children. Rock & roll was indeed the devil’s music and many young ones are addicted to music and games and falling into the hidden plan of devil and getting away from God. In 1968 the Rolling Stones release a new album that confirmed every parent’s darkest suspicion. The opening song of Beggar’s Banquet and of course, the song, “sympathy for the devil” etc. The secret messages embedded in these songs are towards worshipping the devil. The devil’s head was also tattooed on one of the singer’s chest.
John Lennon of the renowned rock & roll music group “The Beatles” once said, “The Beatles are bigger than Jesus” Beatlemania spread to the US in 1964. Many fell into the trap of devil listening to their songs. Mr. Lennon was shot to death in 1968. Music icon Elvis Presley died at the age of 42 by heart attack due to his addiction to high dosage of drugs. King of Pop music, Michel Jackson died at at age of 50 due to his heavy drug intoxication. Marilyn Monroe, one of the most popular Hollywood stars died at the age of 36 by self-administered overdose of sedative drugs. Where is Princess Diana?. They all fell to devils plan and vanished too soon despite their fame, charm, possession and unique talents.
The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy and his plan is to make attractive deals that will end up in tragedy. His deals are splitting families, parents and children, splitting Churches, spreading wrong doctrines, make divisions and confusions. Understand, his hidden agenda in each deal and do not fall into his evil plans. Seek the Lord for deliverance in time of devil’s intimidation and pressure rather than cutting a deal with the devil and making compromises.
Joseph in the Bible did not make a deal with Potiphar’s wife for illegal sexual relation when he was in the king’s palace. The Hebrew children did not make a deal with the king and said, “O, king, we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up” (Daniel 3:18). Daniel did not make a deal with the evil plan of king Darius and ignored his command. God blessed Joseph, delivered the Hebrew Children and rescued Daniel for not falling to the deals behind devils plans. Job rejected the deal of devil. His wife said, “Curse God and die” after they lost everything. But Job did not make a deal with devils plan through his wife due to his unshakable faith.
Even Jesus was tempted by the devil. The Bible says, the devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and said, “ All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me” ( Mathew 4:9) Jesus replied, Be gone Satan, for it is written, “ You shall worship the Lord your God” Then the devil left Him.
The devil has power, skills, strategies and he is the ultimate manipulator and the chief adversary of God. Any power the devil has is only because God gives it to him for a season. He will be thrown into the lake of fire. “The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and he with the beast and false prophet will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10)
As we all enter into a new year, let us look forward with great hope and trust in God and follow His word and will and reject any deal by the devil and his agents. Make a strong decision, regardless of what we face in the New Year, “I will not make a deal with the devil”. I will put my trust in the almighty God and continue the rest of my life for God’s glory.
