VFS Global conducts Consular Camps to facilitate easier local access to consular services for the Indian diaspora

VFS Global and the Embassy of India in the USA are hosting Consular Camps to facilitate access to consular services for the Indian diaspora. These camps are organized with the support of local Indian Associations and Federations to address the needs of the Indian diaspora. Customers are able to get their completed applications verified and submitted in person for Passport, OCI, Renunciation, Police Clearance Certificate, Visa and GEP.

This year alone VFS Global has successfully completed 14 consular camps in 6 cities with 5 more camps planned in the next 3 months. “The Consular Camps led by the NY Indian Consulate here in Ohio was a fantastic engagement initiative and managed well on the ground by VFS Global. More than 1,000 applications for various services such as Visa, OCI amongst others were successfully processed on a single day. Providing both convenience as well as efficiency, the camp also turned out to be a great engagement opportunity for the Indian Diaspora here”, said Mr. Ramakrishna Kasaria, Chairperson, Federation of Indian Associations based in Ohio that hosted a camp earlier this March.

The camps are usually organized on a Saturday to make it convenient for the local community to best utilize the services. This year alone VFS Global has handled 2,255 applications in 14 camps and will handle at least 550 applications in the two upcoming camps.

VFS Global’s team of experts and trained staff visit the identified locations and help process applications that are already booked through its online system. This ensures quicker and more systematic processing of the applications at the convenience of the local community.

Sonia Dhayagude, Regional Head – Americas at VFS Global Services, says, “The Consular Camps have been well received and we are grateful to the Associations and Federations that have actively helped to make them possible. The sheer number of applications we have processed, are a testimony to its success. We look forward to bringing this service to applicant’s doorsteps at more places across the USA with the support of the Indian Consulate.”

VFS Global has, in association with the Indian Consulate, extended these camps as a service to help the Indian diaspora. Associations or Federations that are interested in setting up such local camps can reach out to the local Consulate or write-in to communications@vfsglobal.com
