George Abraham, Vice-Chair of the Indian Overseas Congress, briefed the Congress President on the IOC volunteering during the recently concluded elections and requested that the party form a task force to look into the EVM tampering, especially in States where the BJP is in power. "There is sufficient technical expertise available among Indians at home and abroad to make a detailed assessment of the case," said Abraham. "The party should move vigorously towards promoting transition towards paper ballots like in many European countries.

Mr. Abraham also proposed an International conference of Congress loyalists from across the globe, highlighting the IOC's current presence in 32 countries. The argument is that such a gathering would not only boost the morale of the supporters but also serve as a strategic platform to further the party's global influence in the future.

Discussions also included the issue of arbitrarily launching OICC chapters (Overseas Indian Cultural Congress) in developed countries such as the U.S. and U.K., where there are already IOC and Kerala chapters. Mr. Abraham requested a directive from the AICC to address this matter definitively. The OICC was specifically established for Gulf countries where political activities by foreigners are prohibited. Another request was also made to appoint permanent Focal Points in every PCC on behalf of IOC to foster effective ongoing dialogue and strengthen  relationships.
