Plainfield, Illinois.Siv Panicker was sworn in as trustee on May 5, 2025, at Plainfield Village Hall in front of a large gathering of friends, families, and village residents. Other trustees sworn in were Venessa Sula and Tom Ruane (incumbent). John Argoudelis (incumbent) was sworn in as Mayor. The oath was administered by Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk. Following the ceremony, he attended his first board meeting.

Village Administrator and Treasurer Tracy Pleckham, Police Chief Robert Miller, and other department heads attended the ceremony. Community leaders Raj Pillai, Dale Fontana, Shibu Kurian, Pres Pillai, Biju Zacharia, Allen George, Anil Sreenivasan, Jayan Mulangad, Jose Chennikkara, Siby Pathickel, Shishir Jain, and Madan Pamulapati also represented the Indian community along with other Plainfield residents.

In response to inquiries from the local media regarding his involvement in politics, Mr. Panicker provided a statement. “I have always enjoyed working for our community, and this marks my eighth-year residency in the Village of Plainfield. I am a big advocate of making Plainfield a more affordable and secure environment for families and children, lowering the rising tax load of the residents, decreasing expenditure, and saving taxpayers' money. During my campaign, I found that at least 90% of residents were concerned about property tax increases. Residents still find the real estate property taxes for their homes to be extremely exorbitant, despite the village officials’ statements that they have lowered total tax revenue from 88% to 80%. Our village expenses are growing, but business tax revenue is insufficient. This is the main reason for the real estate tax increases.”

The village trustee position is for a four-year term. A village trustee primarily acts as a legislative body member, responsible for enacting ordinances, approving budgets, establishing village policies, and representing constituents, etc.
