THE GLORY OF GOD IS IN YOU

Kabod, a Hebrew word meaning, the Glory or presence of God. Ichabod is just the opposite meaning, the glory has departed. “The glory has departed from Israel for the ark of God has been captured” (Ist Samuel 4:12) This passage capture the crisis surrounding the defeat of Israel at the hands of the Philistines.
As Christians and true born again believers, we have the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. God’s glory does not depart from us till we willfully commit sin and does not repent at all.
The GLORY of God is in us and not in organizations, temples or buildings. We as true believers are the temple of God per Bible and His glory dwells in each one of us who are holy in His presence.
There is only one Church and that is the Church of God and Christ is the head of the Church. We are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ who sacrificed His life for our salvation. Now we are members of the body of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit to live a holy life. We can grieve the Holy Spirit and resist Him and end up like a ruined temple which lost the glory of God. There are so many believers once carried the glory of God lost His presence due to sin and disobedience.
In the Old Testament times, we see the glory of the Lord was grieved away from the temple at Jerusalem by idolatry of the leaders and the people. God says, “You have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will withdraw” (Ezekiel 5: 11) The Ark constructed under the leadership of Moses held the tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments. The Ark symbolized God’s special presence and promises to the people of Israelites. Its capture signified the defeat and a spiritual crisis for Israel.
Israelites were defeated by the Philistines and the death of Eli, the high priest along the death of his sons, Hophni and Phinehas and the capture of the Ark was such a crisis for Israel. They lost the Ark, which was viewed as the visible sign of God’s presence and favor. High Priest Eli’s daughter in law upon hearing this horrible news and experiencing severe labor pain named her new born child, Ichabod, reflecting the departure of God’s glory from Israel. She named the boy, Ichabod, means “No Glory” saying the “The glory has departed from Israel” because the Ark was taken by the enemies. (1st Samuel 5:22)
Sins such as pride, jealousy, anger, bitterness, revenge, materialism, greed for power, greed for money are all reasons for missing the glory of God from our lives. Glory and Grace can be lost when we do not consult with God and ignore Him and being so adamant to get even or to defeat others. Many servants of God tried to do things in their own plan and without the approval and presence of God and end up in failure. We need the glory and grace of God to be successful in our battles in life. No one knows where the ark is today, but today we have through His son Jesus, God gave us His very glory.
God’s glory is in us and not in any organizations, temples or buildings. We are the temple of God and His glory does not depart from us until we commit sins and ignores God. Leaders may lead you to sin, divisions, fights to hold on to their power and positions. Leaders may get into power by illegal and unholy ways. But they cannot do anything to you and me that will cost the glory of God. We are His precious children and as long as we live pure, holy, sinless, loving, compassionate, and obedient to His word and please Him, we will not lose His glory.
There are thousands and thousands of sincere and holy believers and Pastors in all our spiritual organizations such as IPC, Church of God, Assemblies of God, and Sharon Fellowship and so on. There are millions in the world who serve God very sincerely, live holy, prayer warriors, eagerly waiting for His second coming. God’s glory and grace is in all of them. No matter how bad the leaders lead or live, how corrupt they are, how arrogant and unforgiving they are, the sincere children of God are in His hands and His glory is in them.
So let us continue to live holy, support our organizations, leaders come and go or they will be removed by God. “Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2) Bu focusing on Him and not the leaders, believers can find resilience and hope during difficult times. He will never leave you, fail you, or forsake you. May His glory continue to overwhelm you so that you will be the light that shines for others in darkness.
Pray for your organization and leaders to have change of hearts to repent and submit to God’s will and plan. They must settle differences, forgive each other and be humble. Pray for them to repent their sins and cried unto God to be good and fair leaders. Of course we must respect good leaders and support them always. Their decisions will affect the whole organization so we have to intercede for them to be wise, holy, humble and good stewards of the Gospel.
As long as you turn from the sins and turn in faith to Christ, the glory dwells in you. The glory dwells in our midst, glory more powerful, more real, better than any gold plated ark of the covenant like the old time, the glory not inside a man-made vessel, but of God’s only begotten Son, sent from Heaven to earth for our sakes, died on the cross, rose again on the third day, ascended to Heaven, seated at the higher and coming gain in Glory. “The word became flesh and dwell among us” and we have seen His glory. Glory as of the only son from the Father full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Let us honestly uphold the leaders in our prayer so that they will lead the organizations per the absolute will of God and not for their own power, popularity or purse. We need to stand together, be humble, and be peaceful and loyal to our organization.
Leaders will come and go but  the organizations will survive all challenges since God knows the truth and He will bring peace, unity, hope and revival among His faithful believers. Let us not become conceited provoking and envying each other (Galatians 5:26). But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out, beware of destroying one another” (Galatians 5:15).
Let us walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” ( Ephesians 4:1-3). Child of God, His glory is in you. Hold on to it and do not grieve the Holy Spirit and loose His GLORY.
