Pothen Joseph (Thampy) Thamarathu reached the heavenly shores and started his eternal life on Saturday July 20th, 2024. He was born on November 24th, 1949 as the youngest son of Pothen Thamarathu & Aliyamma Pothen (Puthuparambil) in Ranni.  

He is survived by his loving wife Lily Joseph (Velukizhakethil, Ranni) and by his children,    
Lijo & Jacqueline Puthuveetil (Ranny  & New York)
    Jeena & Siby Thanuvelil (Kattod & Chicago)
And by  his grandchildren, Alexander, Abraham, Christopher & Daniel
He was the loving brother of:
    Late Uthuppan Thamarathu & Late Chinamma Aanjilimoottil
    Late Ammini Abraham & Late Abraham (Kuttai) Manimalethu
    Late Chacko Thamarathu & Leelamma Parathodathil
    Late Jose Thamarathu & Kunjamma Vayalil
    Late Kunjumon (Pothen) Thamarathu & Kunjunjamma Paranickal
Valsa Thomas & Thomas Mammen Puthenpurackal
And brother-n-law to,
    Lizy & James Mundaplackal
    Limy & Joy Anjilimottil
    Liny & Santhosh Kavumkal
He is the uncle of current KCCNA General Secretary Ajish Pothen Thamarathu and father-in-law of former KCWFNA General Secretary Jacquline Jacob Thamarathu

He will be fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces and by friends and relatives all over the world. Funeral services will start at his home in Thottamon, Ranni on Wednesday July 24th 2:00 PM and will continue at St. Theresa's Malankara Knanaya Catholic Church, Angadi, Ranni.  He will be buried in the family tomb at the St. Theresa’s Church Cemetery.
