The inauguration of the Knanaya Catholic Association of Edmonton, Canada as the 23rd unit of KCCNA was conducted on January 26th, Sunday, much to the delight of all the Knanaya Catholic families living in the ( way north ) Alberta province of Canada. Every single member in the Alberta province was present at this auspicious occasion.
KCCNA President Mr. Shaji Edat lighted the lamp marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the North American Knanaya Catholic community and Northern Canada!
The crowd were very thrilled with immense joy and happiness and embraced each other with a sense of pride!!
KCCNA Canadian RVP Mr. Lyju Chennangattu was also present. Mr. Lyju was one of the main persons that did the ground work for paving the way for the establishment of a Knanaya unit in Edmonton.
KCAE Secretary Mr. Thomas Vanchipurackal warmly welcomed everyone to the function and paid a special tribute to a bus full of Knanaya families that had come from Calgary unit to attend this historic event.
KCAE President Mr. Joby Vallithottam in his presidential address thanked the KCCNA Executive committee and the entire KCCNA National Council for approving a Knanaya Catholic unit under KCCNA in Edmonton. He also thanked the Edmonton families for their cooperation, support and sincere commitment towards establishing the new unit under KCCNA.
Both KCCNA President Shaji Edat and Canada RVP Lyju Chennangattu, explained to the crowd the benefits of having a local unit under the KCCNA umbrella. They emphasized that it will be most beneficial for all the Knanaya families, their children, and especially for the youth of the City of Edmonton/ Alberta region - as the youth/ young men and women/ will be fully exposed to the various National Youth & Young Adult conventions, High School summits, and to other Youth programs that will be initiated by both KCCNA and KCYLNA.
KCAE Vice President Mrs. Sini Febin Puthooppallil thanked everyone for coming to the function and for becoming a part of the “historical moment” of the Edmonton Knanaya Catholic community.KCAE Joint Secretary Mrs. Leona Lenin Matchanickal and Youth Representatives Noela Shaiju Vattakunnathu and Maria Joby Vallithottam served as the meeting anchors.
The meeting was followed by a set of Cultural programs performed by young adults, youth and children. The function ended with a delicious dinner and everyone were seen rejoicing with the music as the function winded !!!
