Chinnamma Njaravelil Philip received the Lifetime Achievement Award from INAI during the Nurses’ Week Celebration. Chinnamma is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse who immigrated to the United States in 1975, marking an extraordinary 50-year journey of service, leadership, and inspiration in the field of nursing. With over 35 years of hands-on clinical experience working as a Registered Nurse, she has made significant contributions across a wide range of specialties, including the Open Heart Unit, Neuro ICU, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Step-Down Unit, and the Oncology Clinic.
She has been a steadfast supporter and leader within the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois (INAI), where she served as Membership Chair during the organization’s formative years for an impressive five terms. Additionally, she contributed her skills as the Joint Treasurer for two terms and played a pivotal role as the Registration Chair at the inaugural NAINA Conference held in Illinois. She enjoys being actively involved in many of INAI’s events including seminars, picnics and being in charge of fun raffles during many of the holiday celebrations. When she was the KCS Women’s Forum Coordinator and as a Nurse, she was able to organize health seminars, free flu shots & free mobile Mammograms for uninsured women sponsored thru John Stroger Hospital.
Chinnamma is also a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her loving husband are blessed with three accomplished children along with their spouses in the healthcare & IT field. She has five beloved grandchildren who bring her so much joy in her life. In addition to her professional and family commitments, Chinnamma is actively involved in her church. She continues to live a vibrant life filled with travel, spiritual service, and cheering on her grandchildren in their many activities.
