Kochuveettil Beats, the dynamic Chenda Melam team based out of Chicago, Illinois, was recently featured during Hanumankind’s debut at Coachella. The group opened the set with a powerful, authentic Chenda Melam and later accompanied the unplugged performance of Run It Up, Hanumankind’s latest track. This groundbreaking collaboration between a Malayali hip-hop artist and an American Malayali percussion crew marked a proud cultural moment on one of the world’s biggest stages.
Kochuveettil Beats was founded by brothers Jeffrey and Jonathan Kochuveettil. Their parents, Kunjachan and Beena Kochuveettil of Glenview, Illinois (originally from Thuruthy, Changanacherry), recognized their deep interest in percussion and the rich rhythms of Kerala’s cultural music. In the early nineties, they brought chendas from Kerala to Chicago planting the seeds for what would become a globally recognized performing group.

Known for traveling across the globe from weddings and corporate events to showstopping performances in Times Square, Kochuveettil Beats continues to redefine how traditional Kerala rhythms meet the modern world. Catch their unforgettable Coachella performance with Hanumankind online now.
